Good dental care - a fundamental right!
On 1 January 1999 the reformed dental care benefit system came into effect. Anyone living in special residential homes providing service and care for elderly and functionally impaired people is now offered an annual oral health assessment. This is done in the patient's own home or residential home and is free of charge. Oral care training for nursing staff is also included as an important component of this outreach activity. The county council uses a procurement process to decide who provides this outreach dental care.
The outreach dentistry consists of
- Oral health assessments
- Training in oral care
- Essential dental care
